Near the end of October, Eric received a surprise in the Montgomery Night Instagram inbox. Evan Wiseman from InsidethesceneHFX, an emerging media channel here in Nova Scotia, reached out to offer the band a chance to play a fundraiser show after the previous opening act had to cancel.

This marked an important opportunity for the band to support a great cause!

For those who don't know, Halifax had a dedicated all-ages music venue on the Commons Park called "The Pavilion." This venue became known as a cultural hub for live music, especially the emerging hardcore scene. Keep in mind, this was the early 2000s, and emo/alt music was thriving! Unfortunately, the Halifax Pavilion closed its doors for good in 2014, however the dedicated nonprofit board still exists, and its members work hard to fill the gap in the all-ages scene.

Funds from our last show went directly to supporting opportunities for musicians under 19, including covering costs associated with equipping a venue for live shows and hosting a massively successful battle of the bands!

As showtime approached, we were the first of four bands to perform that night, but not before Evan revealed his surprise to all the bands performing! The folks at Inside The Scene HFX went out of their way to create a flag for each act with the band's logo (yes, we got to take ours home)!Joining us were Bring Me Sleep, Sleeping Machines, and Wax Forest. The team at Inside the Scene HFX put on an amazing event and raised $1,033 to support all-ages music in Halifax, NS! With all the tables pushed to the side and bodies gathering around the dance floor at Gus' Pub, everyone can be happy that this event turned out so well!

Looking ahead to 2025, we took a Montgomery Night band "retreat" to a cottage 2 hours outside Halifax. With gear rentals and EP plans in mind, we began to record our first releases since "Trigger". Blessed with good food, great company, and a few mentors, we had the opportunity to bond, record, and ultimately unplug for a bit. We even lucked out by being able to record drums at Sea Level Sound Studio before it closes its doors. Eric says, "It was truly an honour to work with Gord. He taught me so much about how to drum for the microphones in the studio and the importance of song notes!"

With no set release date for our EP, we are keeping our wheels turning. So in 2025, expect new songs for our live set, new releases for your ears, and oh yeah, did we mention OFFICIAL MONTGOMERY NIGHT MERCH!

Montgomery Night on the small stage at Gus' Pub Halifax Nova Scotia

Dear Fans, We want to take a moment to thank you for joining us on October 4th at Gus's Pub for our single release party! It was a night we will never forget, and we are so grateful for your support. As many of you know, Trigger was our first commercial release and a lot of work went into making everything pan out smoothly, on a shoestring budget. There's no better feeling as a band than having the audience sing along with you during a show, and you guys SHOWED UP when it came time to belting out the chorus alongside Reagan.

"Having an audience sing along to a song you wrote is kind of surreal," said Reagan about the experience. "Two big bucket list items happened for me that week. We released a song and we discovered that we were nominated for the Vote The Coast, 'Best New Band' in Halifax. I was legitimately shocked, and I'm so [freaking] grateful."

Joining us that night was High October who got the night started with some dark rock solo songwriter music, before inviting their other band member up for a few tunes. Their beautiful voice paired with the haunting melodies on synth and piano were mesmerizing and left folks wanting more! Origami Workshop closed out the night with their queer, kinky, and fabulously funky chaotic energy! Things got a little bit heated after guitarist Violet ripped her pants on stage jumping into the mosh pit, cranking up the heat in the room a little bit more. Phew!

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported us as we continue on our musical journey. We are hoping to have T-shirts, and more music ready for release by Reagan's Birthday in January! Stay tuned for our next gig dates!

Cheers, Montgomery Night 🌙

We are feeling absolutely floored with support from the Halifax music scene right now! We played our first show at Gig Night just last March and released our first single September 30th! Still, our peers have nominated us as Best New Band in The Coast awards!  This nomination truly means so much to us, and to see our group on the same ballot as other huge names in the NS music scene truly is inspiring! Best of luck to all our competitors, and to our friends who will vote for us! Let's show them what we're made of because.....there's only one way from the bottom it's up"
